I thought my husband was trying to find a unique way to ignore what I was saying, as his comment was always "Huh, I didn't hear you". It drove me CRAZY, so I made him go have a hearing exam....guess what? He couldn't hear at certain tones! All the years of construction work without ear protection took its toll on his hearing. Today it is mandatory in loud noise jobs to wear hearing protection, thank goodness the next generations may not suffer as much when they reach the ages where hearing does start to decrease.
